The Procurement Department was upgraded to full department with the posting of a substantive Director to head the department on January 21st 2016.
To ensure all contracting processes are conducted in a transparent, open, competitive and efficient manner and in strict compliance with the Public Procurement Act, 2007 and extant guidelines on the award of contracts in the public service and to conform with the spirit of Due Process mechanism as well as ensure value for money in government business.
To prevent contract inflation by ensuring cost reasonableness, accuracy and comparability in the award of contracts.
a. Preparation of procurement advertisement and soliciting for bids in adherence to the Public Procurement Act, 2007 and guidelines issued pursuant to the Act by the Bureau of Public Procurement.
b. Processing of contract awards for works, goods and services to the Permanent Secretary, Ministerial Tenders Board, Bureau of Public Procurement and Federal Executive Council in line with the Act and extant rules as well as within approved thresholds.
Preparation of Procurement plans for works, goods and services in relation to projects and programmes in the 2016 budget as it affects all user-departments in the Ministry
