Hadiza Nana, 41, one of the daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari from Safinatu, his late first wife, on July 8 wedded Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami. The Wedding took place at a close-door Nikkai ceremony held at Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. Although the ceremony was marked with a Nikkah, It went with no official wedding Festivities. Hadiza married to Abdulrahman Mamman Kurfi and divorced the northerner after a union that produced six children.

POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED KUJE PRISON ESCAPEE, OTHERS IN KASTINA – THE NATIONS PG.2, THIS DAY PG.8

The Kastina State Police command yesterday announced the capture of Kamala Lawal Abubakar, a fleeing fugitive from the recent Kuje jail break in Abuja. Abubakar was said to have been caught with leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. The spokesperson of the Kastina state police command, Gambo Isah, a superintendent of police, told newsmen at the state’s command headquarters that the arrest of the prisoner was based on credible information. He said ‘The divisional police officer of Danmusa and his team carried out raids at suspected criminal hideout in Danmusa LGA and succeeded in arresting one Kamala Lawal Abubakar, aged  33, of Unguwar Sale Quarters, Danmusa LGA.

In another development, the coalition of South East Youth Leaders, (COSEYL) has commended the Benue State Governor Dr. Samuel Ortom over his passionate appeal for the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. Ortom made the call when some Igbo indigenous people living in the United State of America (USA) paid him a visit on Thursday. The group in a statement by his president General, Goodluck Ibem and Publicity Secretary Comrade Okay Nwaoru, described Ortom as a man of integrity.

COURT INCREASES CJN’S MONTHLY SALARY TO N10M – SATURDAY SUN PG.10, THIS DAY PG.8, SATURDAY PUNCH PG.9

The National Industrial Court (NIC), sitting in Abuja, on Friday reviewed and increased salaries of the chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola and other judicial officers in the country. Justice Osatohanmwen Obaseki Osagie who delivered the judgement lamented that the salary of judges and justices have been stagnated for over 14 years despite the increased workload on judicial officers as they wallow in penury owing to their ‘’extremely low salaries and allowances’’.

KUJE JAILBREAK: FCTA GIVES ILLEGAL KUJE SQUATTERS ONE-WEEK ULTIMATUM – THIS DAY PG.10

Days after a terrorist attack on Kuje Correctional Centre that led to the escape of several inmates, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has given illegal squatters of Kuje one-week ultimatum to evacuate the community after which it will embark on massive demolition of illegal structure. The directive was served yesterday by the FCT Ministerial Task Team on Environment at a stakeholder Engagement and sensitisation Meeting. 

KUJE PRISON: EX-DIPLOMAT, EXPERT BLAME ATTACK ON SABOTAGE – SATURDAY SUN PG.5

The former Nigerian Ambassador Brazil and Argentina, Patrick Dele Cole, has attributed the recent attack on Kuje Prison to Sabotage, saying the security architecture of the country has been compromised. Cole claimed that security leaks, corruption, and mismanagement of funds could be traced to the ugly incident that caused the escape of over 400 inmates.

The Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Munta Abimbola, on Friday cinstituted a seven-man panel to investigate the allegation levelled against the Deputy Govornor, Rauf Olaniyan, by the State House of Assembly. The House of Assembly had in June directed Abimbola to constitute the panel to investigate Olaniyan and served the deputy governor with a notice of impeachment over alleged gross misconduct, abuse of office, and financial recklessness, among other alleged offences.

KUJE INVASION: MILITARY COMMENCES INVESTIGATION, SUMMONS SOLDIERS – SATURDAY PUNCH PG.10

Military authorities have commenced investigation into the alleged negligence of its personnel during the attack on the Kuje Medium Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory, Saturday PUNCH had learnt. Members of the Islamic State of West African Province had attacked the custodial centre on July 6, leading to the death of three terrorists, an official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and four inmates.
