The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will, on Monday, September 30, 2024, swear in 87 lawyers newly elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The Supreme Court’s Director of Information, Dr. Festus Akande, in a statement on Thursday, said the ceremony will take place in the main courtroom of the Supreme Court, marking the official start of the 2024/2025 Legal Year.
Justice Kekere-Ekun’s appointment as CJN was confirmed on Wednesday by the Senate and this ceremony will mark her first official event of this kind in her new role.
The Supreme Court, which went on its annual vacation on July 22, resumed sessions on September 23.
FG suspends prisons officers over Bobrisky allegation

The federal government has suspended two officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCOs) over bribery allegations involving Idris Okuneye, a popular cross dresser known as Bobrisky.
The suspension of the officials was disclosed in a statement signed by Ja’afaru Ahmed, the secretary to Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, shared an audio clip of Bobrisky wherein he claimed that he bribed some EFCC officials with N15 million to drop the money laundering charge against him.

The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate allegations of bribery against Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the case of money laundry charge against Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
The resolution was sequel to a motion by Rep. Patrick Umoh (APC- Akwa Ibom) at plenary on Thursday.
Moving the motion, Umoh said that the the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) was also fingered in the disturbing allegation.
He said that the allegation which emanated from Mr Martins Otse, a social media influencer known as Very DarkMan, was widely circulated

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has accused the South East Governors of sacrificing the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB Mazi Nnamdi Kanu ahead of 2027 general election.
The Igbo Apex group, said this in a statement signed by its Secretary General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro on Wednesday after Justice Binta Nyako recuse herself from Kanu’s trial.
According to Isiguzoro, the accusation was because the five governors failed to meet with President Tinubu, after they unanimously pledged to seek a political solution for Nnamdi Kanu’s release some months ago.
