MALAMI OKAYS SEIZURE OF KYARI, ACCOMPLICES’ PROPERTY, ACCOUNTS – PUNCH PG.42
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has approved a request by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for the confiscation of DCP Abba Kyari and his co-accused assets. It was gathered that the NDLEA’s request, which was dispatched to the justice ministry penultimate week, had received the AGF’s nod. With this development, the former Commander, Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team and his accomplices may lose their assets, cash and money in bank accounts; vehicles; real estate, notably hotels, residential and commercial buildings; personal effects such as wristwatches, jewellery and other valuable possessions.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 52-year-old father of four, Okeke Adolphus Anayochukwu, with black liquid cocaine at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA). Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this in a statement yesterday, said this was the first time such has happened. Babafemi said Okeke, who claimed to be a businessman, was arrested with 20.75kg of the black liquid cocaine on March 15 upon his arrival at the Abuja airport on board Qatar Airways flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil, through Doha, Qatar.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance has said the unfolding events with regards to a former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano’s ordeal in the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have proven that he is being persecuted. A video of Obiano in EFCC custody was leaked and the video is currently trending on social media platforms. Speaking to our correspondent in Awka, on Sunday, the National Coordinator, APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, said the video showed that EFCC was being used to witch-hunt the former governor.
