The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), and military authorities came under fierce backlash on Saturday following the abduction of many schoolboys from the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State on Friday night.

The Peoples Democratic Party, the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum and others described the incident as unfortunate, saying it was a sad reminder of the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls in 2014. They noted that it was worrying that such mass abduction could take place under the watch of the various security agencies.

American media house, Cable News Network, has recommended its two-part investigative report on the Lekki tollgate shootings by soldiers on the night of October 20 to the Lagos State Panel of Judicial Inquiry probing the incident. The foreign media house told the retired Justice Doris Okuwobi-led panel to go and watch its report, titled, ‘How a bloody night of bullets quashed a young protest movement,’ which is backed with pictures and video clips, to assist it in its findings. CNN said this while rejecting a November 28 summons issued on it by the panel to appear for questioning.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has urged the troops not to be distracted by the moves by the International Criminal Court to investigate the military for war crimes  and crimes against humanity. He advised the troops to work hard and be guided by the constitution, the Rules of Engagement, the Code of Conduct and the Standing Operating Procedures for all Nigerian Army Operations. Buratai said this in a statement on Saturday, by the acting Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.Gen. Sagir Musa.

BUHARI APPOINTS INTERIM ADMINISTRATOR FOR NDDC – DAILY TRUST PG.25, THE NATION PG.6,THISDAY PG.9

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a sole administrator to run the affairs of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Effiong Akwa, who has been the acting executive director, finance and administration in the NDDC, “is to assume headship (of the commission) till completion of the forensic audit,” a presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, said in a statement posted on Twitter, Saturday night. A Federal High Court in Abuja recently issued an order restraining Kemebradikumo Pondei-led interim management from running the affairs of the commission.
