TINUBU, MALAMI, OTHERS PAY TRIBUTES TO JUSTICE NGWUTA – NATION PG.33

on Monday paid tributes to the late Supreme Court Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta for his contributions to the development of the nation’s justice system and delivery. COCAINE, HEROIN RECOVERED FROM MONARCH’S PALACE – NATION PG.6

Officials of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Anambra State have recovered 58.5 grammes of cocaine and 13.9 grammes of heroin from the palace of a prominent traditional ruler in the state. The agency did not disclose the identity of the monarch, but said there were efforts to unravel how the illicit drugs were hidden in his palace.

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Anambra State have uncovered various quantities of cocaine and heroin stashed in the palace of a ruler in the state. Muhammadu MisbahuIdris, the State Commander of the NDLEA, said 58.5 grams of cocaine and 13.9 grams of heroin were concealed in the palace of the traditional ruler.

An FCT High Court yesterday remanded a former Minister of State for Power, Muhammad Wakil, over alleged involvement in the mismanagement of N27.1bn earmarked for payment of retirement benefits to staff of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria. Justice Suleiman Belgore ordered the minister to remain in prison custody till March 31, 2021 when his bail application would be determined.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Monday said its operatives in Anambra State recovered 58.5 grammes of cocaine and 13.9 grammes of heroin concealed in the palace of a prominent traditional ruler in the state. The state NDLEA Commander, Muhammadu Idris, in a statement, noted that palace guards were assisting the agency in tracking the dealer.

A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the ‘secret trial’ of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat, to March 31 to enable prosecution close its case. The lead prosecution, Chris Umar, who is also Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Justice, confirmed the adjournment shortly after the trial that lasted for more than six hours on Monday, Daily Trust reported.

SUSPECTED DRUG BARON ARRAIGNED 10 YEARS AFTER ARREST – SUN PG.4

A suspected drug baron, Olife Victor Chidi, who went underground for 10 years after his arrest for allegedly trafficking 7.5kg of heroine, has been arraigned at Lagos Federal High Court. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arraigned Chidi on Friday before Justice Muhammad Liman. He is facing a two-count charge of unlawful dealing in 7.5kg of heroine, a banned narcotic.
