AGF OFFICE NOT INVESTIGATING TINUBU, SAYS MALAMI – PUNCH PG.11, SUN PG.6

The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation is not investigating All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu,

the AGF, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has said. Malami said this during an interview with Channels Television’s  ‘Politics Today’ programme on Tuesday.

The British Government is set to return £4.2 million being part of funds so far recovered from friends and family members of former Delta Governor, James Ibori, to the Nigerian government. British High Commission to Nigeria, Ms. Catriona Laing, who disclosed this in Abuja, yesterday, said this was the first tranche of such planned returns.

The Delta State Government will receive nothing out of the £4.2m (N2.2bn) seized from former Governor James Ibori which will be repatriated from the United Kingdom, a development which has been rejected by the state government, The PUNCH has learnt. The Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), while thanking the UK, said the money would be used for Federal Government projects such as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the 2nd Niger Bridge and the Abuja-Kano rail, giving no indication that Delta State would receive a portion of the funds.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a subpoena compelling the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu to appear before it and testify in the ongoing trial of former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, on alleged N2.1bn alleged fraud. The subpoena signed on March 8 by Justice Okon Abang obtained by journalists in Abuja on Tuesday commanded 10 persons to come before the court on March 9, 10 and 11 to testify in Maina’s defence.

ALLEGED TARABA KIDNAP KINGPIN, WADUME, OTHERS TO OPEN DEFENCE MAY 18 – PUNCH PG.

Alleged Taraba kidnap kingpin, Bala Hamisu (aka Wadume) will open his defence in the terrorism charge preferred against him at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on May 18. The Federal Government arraigned Wadume and his co-defendants on June 8, 2020 on an amended charge of 13 counts bordering on terrorism, kidnapping and related offence.

DRUG WAR: AREWA YOUTHS BACK MARWA, SEEK PARTNERSHIP WITH NDLEA – SUN PG.8

Leaders of the Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) have expressed their support for Nigeria’s renewed fight against drug abuse being coordinated by Chairman/Chief Executive, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd), even as they seek to partner with the agency in its action against illicit drugs. Speaking when he led national executive members of the forum on a visit to Gen. Marwa yesterday in Abuja, National President of the AYF, Alhaji Gambo Gujungu, said northern youths decided to support the war against drugs because young Nigerians had become high consumers of narcotics.
