Mrs. Beatrice Ejodamen Jedy-Agba OON, mni, was born to the family of Dr. and Mrs. Eigbefoh of Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and was called to the Nigerian Bar in December, 1990. 

 

Her public service career began at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, in 1992, where she served as a prosecutor and law enforcement Officer before transferring her service to the Federal Ministry of Justice in 2004.  She has served as Legal adviser to the National Boundary Commission where she was appointed Head of Secretariat of the Nigerian Delegation to the Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission and the Follow-Up Committee which was established by the United Nations to facilitate implementation of the International Court of Justice Judgment on the boundary dispute between Nigeria and Cameroon.

In October 2010, she was also appointed Special Assistant to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and was simultaneously Coordinator, Prisons Reforms and Decongestion Programme of the Ministry.  Subsequently, she was appointed Executive Secretary, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) by the President, in June 2011.  With the re-enactment of the NAPTIP establishment Act in 2015, she was re-designated Director-General of the Agency; a position she held until February, 2016.

In recognition of her efforts to combat human trafficking as Executive Secretary of NAPTIP, the United States Government conferred her with the honor of “2014 Trafficking in Persons Hero” in July 2014. She also received a Presidential commendation in recognition of efforts to coordinate national response to combating human trafficking in Nigeria. She was conferred with the National Award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), for distinguished public service in 2014. 

She has served as Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Federal Ministry of Justice and Director, Legal Services, Ministry of Interior, a position she held until her appointment as Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary.

 

Mrs. Jedy-Agba is an alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Jos (Senior Executive Course 40). She has served on the Board of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, National Human Rights Council and the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board and is a member of the Refugee appeals Board. She is married and blessed with children.

She was sworn-in as Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary on 27th day of April, 2022.
